Overview of ROK Army Recruit Training Centers (Nationwide)

Hello,

Today, I’m introducing the ROK Army recruit training centers across South Korea.

These centers are the first step into military life, where new recruits learn essential military skills and combat capabilities.

Training centers are broadly divided into independent recruit training centers and division-affiliated recruit training centers, each offering tailored programs based on region and assigned roles.

Independent Recruit Training Centers

Independent recruit training centers are not affiliated with a specific division.

Recruits from across the country complete their basic military training here before being assigned to divisions or units.

1. Korea Army Training Center (Nonsan)

As the largest recruit training center in Korea, it primarily trains infantry recruits.

2. 35th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Jeonju)

Located in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, primarily training recruits from the Honam region.

3. 36th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Wonju)

Situated in Wonju, Gangwon-do, mainly for recruits from the capital and Gangwon regions.

4. 37th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Chungju)

Located in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, it focuses on recruits from the Chungcheong region.

5. 39th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Changwon)

Located in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, training recruits from the Gyeongsangnam-do region.

6. 50th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Daegu)

Trains recruits from Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, with emphasis on defense roles for this area.

Division-Affiliated Recruit Training Centers

Division-affiliated recruit training centers are connected to specific divisions, training soldiers for roles within the division, often focused on regional defense.

1. 1st Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Paju)

Located in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, with a focus on defense for the northern region.

2. 3rd Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Cheorwon)

Based in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do, part of the White Skull Division, focusing on DMZ defense.

3. 5th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Yeoncheon)

Located in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do, focusing on frontline defense.

4. 11th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Hongcheon)

In Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, focusing on the eastern regional defense.

5. 12th Infantry Division Recruit Training Center (Inje)

Located in Inje, Gangwon-do, specialized in mountainous defense training.

Each division has its own training facilities, and recruits for specialized roles, known as special skill soldiers, train in specific corps schools.

Training Centers for Specialized Roles (Special Skill Schools)

Special skill schools provide training for soldiers in roles outside of the infantry, such as military police, medical support, communications, and engineering.

1. Military Police School (Icheon, Gyeonggi-do)

Training in facility security and VIP protection.

2. Medical School (Suwon, Gyeonggi-do)

       Medical support and first aid.
